A Gambler’s illegal deal to cash out stolen casino chips to a ruthless gunslinger quickly ensues into an outbreak of violence that threatens the ones he loves. [8.12.14 Los Angeles] The Sabi Company is pleased to announce pre-production is fully underway on Dead Bullet, a new crime-thriller feature film directed by Erik Reese, which is slated to begin production Late September. Reese is an accomplished and dedicated 8 year veteran of The Sabi Company, and has written/produced/directed both features and shorts (most recently Train to Stockholm and Sahara Drifters). Dead Bullet, his newest film, is the story of a gambler’s illegal deal to cash out stolen casino chips to a ruthless gunslinger, which quickly ensues into an outbreak of violence that threatens the ones he loves.
The film is executive produced by Erik Reese and long time friend and collaborator Joshua Nitschke, who is also attached as Director of Photography. Joshua brings an artistic and keen eye to this crime thriller and has previously worked with Sabi on A Short Film About Letting Go (also directed by Erik) and motion picture Key Art (via his photography studio). Over the years Joshua has lensed several larger and more complex projects including a 3-D thriller that was shot entirely in a desert landscape. Joshua is one of the most dedicated professionals Sabi has worked with and has been recognized internationally at Cannes Film Festival and honored with the Kodak Cinematography Award.
Writer/Director/Producer Gary King will be the producer overseeing the project and everyone at Sabi is excited to collaborate with Gary on this next feature effort. Gary brings 10 years of filmmaking experience in producing micro-budget feature films. His on-set enthusiasm, expertise and professionalism is truly valued. Gary has written/directed and produced four features at Kitchen Table Films including a supernatural horror/thriller in post-production that we are very excited about called Unnerved (currently in editorial with Jamie Cobb). Kevin K. Shah and Zak Forsman will be co-producing with Gary.
Also joining the team on Dead Bullet (and 10 year veteran of the Sabi Company) is Sam Krueger, who will be flying in from the east coast. Sam is legendary at Sabi and has collaborated with with the team on several feature films in various crucial capacities (and is a director of photography in his own right). It is also rumored the Sam is the “S” in “Sabi” and we are humbled and grateful he will be joining us once more.
Location Scouting, Crewing and Casting is currently underway and production will span late September and all of October in various desert towns and landscapes throughout California, Nevada and Arizona. More details are to come.
